Grants for organisations and groups

We can help with:

We can make grants to groups or organisations for any project of an educational nature that comes within the terms of the Charity. The project must be for the education or development of young people in Stamford.

One of the areas where the Charity can help is to act as a pump primer helping projects off the ground. It can contribute to capital costs and costs of employees, but cannot contribute to running costs or maintenance. In certain cases it can make a longer commitment for, say, up to three years, with diminishing grants in the second and third years, while the project finds its feet. The Charity cannot commit funds on a long-term continuing basis.

Eligible capital costs could include purchase of equipment, furnishing premises or structural work on the fabric of buildings.

Grants towards the employment of people must be for specific projects. These may be single grants for fixed term projects, or a sliding scale of grants over a stated number of years on the same terms as above.

Group applications should be submitted by a duly appointed representative.

Feasibility studies

Grants can also be made for carrying out feasibility studies or research to identify needs. If the feasibility study is initiated by the sponsoring group, the cost of employees engaged on the task may be eligible. Alternatively, an individual may initiate the project and apply for help as long as he or she can establish that a relevant group is willing to take up the project when the need is identified. In the latter cases the application could be made by the individual.

Commemorative plaques

You may choose to commemorate your grant with a plaque or similar acknowledgement. We have drawn up some suggested designs which can be seen on the page Commemorating your grant.
